SM Entertainment officials deny Taeyeon and Wendy's claim for being absent from the 30th anniversary concert

After Girls' Generation's Taeyeon and Red Velvet's Wendy informed fans that they would not be attending the highly anticipated 30th anniversary concert, "SMTOWN LIVE 2025 in Seoul," due to internal miscommunication, SM employees have added fuel to the fire by sharing their own opinions on the matter through Blind, an anonymous community for company employees. SM Entertainment staff members are providing conflicting accounts of the incident. Taeyeon recently expressed her disappointment on Bubble, a fan communication platform, saying, "I wanted to put on an amazing performance and was eager to prepare two or even three songs,I informed the company and then waited. But to put it plainly, I was unable to perform at all since they failed to make the necessary arrangements." Fans were devastated by her open admission, and many wondered how such a well-known performer could be shut out of an event of this magnitude because of a lack of preparation.

Wendy's announcement that she would no longer be performing but that the choice had been made a month prior infuriated people even more. Wendy said, "You may have already seen the announcement, or maybe you haven’t yet... but the discussions with the company happened over a month ago, and the official notice only went up today (January 6)."
