Production company responds after audiences take photos of Girls' Generation's Sooyoung changing on stage during the play 'Wife'

There were complaints after rude spectators took unrestrained pictures during a performance of the drama "Wife," which starred Sooyoung of Girls' Generation.

A male audience member was reportedly witnessed shooting "hundreds of photos" of Sooyoung at a scene in the play's second act where her character Daisy changes on stage, according to an unidentified netizen. With no officials to stop him, the audience member shot pictures with a DSLR, leading some other attendees to assume that taking pictures was allowed. Soon after, other users objected and started shooting pictures with their phones. This user is anonymous.

In general, recording or taking pictures of any scene from a stage performance is always prohibited. Following the aforementioned incident, a number of internet users voiced their concerns that the play's production company was not doing enough to deter rude audiences from acting in this way.

Since then, the production firm has released a statement on the incident, stating, "Because the audiences were seated in blind spots, we were unable to detect that they were shooting illicit photos. To ensure that this problem doesn't arise again, we will augment this production with more workers. We'll also take action to appropriately alert viewers—including those from other countries—to the fact that taking pictures and videos is forbidden."

'Wife', a play, is presently on stage in Seoul's Gangseo-gu LG Arts Center. From 1959 through 2046, it tells the tales of four generations of women, including queer couples who are social outcasts.
