NCT's Mark and SM Entertainment Show Leniency to Underage Malicious Commenters

On August 21, Korean time, SM Entertainment confirmed that a minor has been identified as a suspect for maliciously defaming NCT member Mark.

SM Entertainment stated, "In order to protect our artists, we strive to adopt a zero-tolerance approach to such issues. However, considering that the suspect is a minor and has shown deep remorse for his actions, we are seeking Forgiveness, so Mark is leaning towards leniency in this particular case."

After the minor formally apologized and repeatedly pledged to prevent a recurrence, SM Entertainment and Mark agreed to leniency, freeing the minor from criminal charges.

In addition to the company's statement, an apology from Minor was released, in which they admitted to posting derogatory comments aimed at Mark. The minor admitted his mistake, saying: "In January 2022, I released a grossly profane statement disparaging NCT member Mark's physical appearance. I regret my indiscretion and would, if given the opportunity, I want to personally ask for forgiveness." Furthermore, the minor revealed, "The detectives who handled the case contacted SM. They asked me to convey to NCT Mark my deep remorse for my age and behavior, and to assure him that I would never do it again. Repeat this behavior."
