In response to Nayeon's 600 million won debt lawsuit, JYPE threatens aggressive legal action against

Nayeon of TWICE has been accused of having outstanding debt, according to JYP Entertainment. The corporation provided this clarification in a statement released on September 19 KST, stating that "The ruling has already been finalized and concluded, so we have nothing to say since it has no bearing on the artist's entertainment pursuits."

In addition, JYP Entertainment said, "We intend to respond sternly through legal means to any cases of defamation or baseless insults targeted towards our artists through speculation."

Prior to this, a lawsuit was filed in January of last year in the 13th Civil Affairs Division of the Seoul Eastern District Court on behalf of a person going by the name of Mr. A against Nayeon and her mother. The accuser, who is said to be Nayeon mother's former lover, demanded the payback of a debt of 600 million won. However, the claimant was unsuccessful in the court case.

By the court's decision, Mr. A gave Nayeon around 535.9 million won between 2004 and 2016. Over nearly 12 years, this sum was made up of monthly rent, loans, tuition, and communication costs. Even yet, the court decided there wasn't enough proof to classify this as a standalone loan with a legitimate payback obligation.

Mr. A said that Nayeon, who was a trainee singer at the time, made a pledge to pay back the money after starting her singing career but broke her word. Mr. A chose not to appeal the decision in the superior court after the trial's adverse result.
