“In the face of fluctuations in global events, we have decided not to continue organizing MTV EMAs 2023 because we are too cautious about the product.
Thousands of employees, crew members, artists, fans, and partners come from every corner of the world to bring the show to life. MTV EMA is an annual celebration of world music.
As we watch the devastating events in Israel and Gaza continue to unfold, this is no time for global celebration. With thousands of lives lost, this is the time to mourn.
Jungkook was originally invited as a performer for the ceremony, and was nominated in three categories including "Best Song", "Best K-Pop" and "Biggest Fan".
Although the in-person awards ceremony was canceled, voting will continue and awards will be given to the winning artists once all winners have been determined.
